Today I took Andrew to the barber shop. I have been taking him with me to my favorite barber shop for around 18 months. This is the same barber shop that has been cutting my hair since I was in elementary school.
While we were there and each had a barber trimming away on our melons, Andrew said, “I really like going to the barber shop with you.”
The simplest things make the stress melt away.
Took my first longish ride today. Woke up early and rode a little over 46 miles in a little less than 3 hours. Then proceeded to clean the house, do laundry, do the dishes, and then drove over and helped my brother replace motor mounts on a chevy pickup.
This will be the first time I have gone to bed before midnight in over a month. And man am I looking forward to it ![]()
My brother is an avid cyclist. He bought this really cool carbon fiber bike that weighs less than my children did when they were born. He had been trying to get me back into riding for while so he offered me a great deal on his old bike. We are the same size so the bike fit. I bought it and started riding.
All that took place in October of last year. I have been trying to ride 20 miles each night after it gets a little cooler. A few things will keep me from riding: I get sick, we have baseball tickets for that night, it is raining, work, etc..
Tonight I passed 1200 miles (1211 to be exact) and I am nearing 80 hours of ride time since I started. My overall average is around 15.2mph. My average on the last 20 miles was 17.2mph. I’m no Lance Armstrong, but I am feeling good about doing something I find fun for exercise.
Wow. It has been over a month since my last entry.
I have been working some pretty long hours lately. Which is part of the reason it has been so long since my last post.
We have done quite a bit since the last entry. On the 21st of June the entire family was in the Mojave desert watching the first private manned space launch. Check out the Scaled website for more information.
The kids enjoyed the time away from the normal day to day. To keep the trip cost down we flew to Vegas and drove over to Mojave. We stayed an extra day just in case the launch was delayed for some reason. Since the launch went on as planned we found ourselves with an extra day. So we decided to go to Circus Circus and have some fun. The kids loved the indoor amusement park. As we were driving to the airport, Andrew asked if we could move to Las Vegas and live there.
For the 4th of July weekend my wife’s sister and her family flew in for a visit. The kids enjoyed playing with thier cousins and we all had a ton of fun.
